Familiar Face Returns: Kyle Anderson is back with the Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are expected to sign Veteran NBA Forward Kyle Anderson after his contract gets bought out by the Memphis Grizzlies, and he clears waivers, (Per Shams Charania). Anderson was traded to Memphis in the Jaren Jackson Jr trade about a month ago, and he has not yet played a game for the Grizzlies.

Kyle Anderson returns to Minnesota after some brief stints with the Warriors, Heat, and Jazz. Anderson was a big piece in the Wolves 2024 playoff run that got them to the Western Conference Finals. However it’s hard to imagine he’ll get minutes in the rotation with Minnesota’s deep roster. 

Another thing to look out for is what jersey number Anderson will wear for the remainder of the season. He previously wore number 5 before giving it up to Anthony Edwards before the 2023 season, and switching to number 1. However, number 5 is obviously still taken by Anthony Edwards, and now number 1 is occupied by Terrance Shannon Jr. We’ll have to see what number Anderson chooses this time around. 

While Anderson isn’t expected to get many rotational minutes with the Wolves, it’s still great to have another veteran leader who knows the team and was a crucial piece just a few seasons ago.
